As part of our course curriculum in SIMS Pune we are required to undergo a management game which is supposed to teach us the important characteristic of a CEO and publish a blog entry describing the experience thus earned.The characteristic is to get out of our comfort zone.We were required to get out on the street for a full day and earn our living.We were divided into teams of two and were given four destinations in Pune where we could look for jobs.The time limit for the work we were going to do till 4 PM in the evening.
We went to tilak nagar to look for a job and after initial hiccups we were able to find a job in a investment company where the branch manager absorbed as agents to sell Mutual Fund policies to their long standing customers.We made close to 200 calls and were able to secure commitment of 12 customers to come in office and invest in the mutual find.The minimum limit of the mutual fund was Rs.5000 and we are to get 0.25% of the cut once the deal is closed with the customers.
The job experience was very great as we were received very positively with the branch manager initially and also during the work we were doing.Initially we were sceptic of tele marketing kind of a job but after couple of calls we were enjoying dealing with the customers.The Branch manager spoke highly of our skills and offered a part time engagement with the company to us.True to the word by the seniors,this was indeed a life changing experience for me.I always thought myself as a introvert but dealing with customers made me feel i am comfortable with people and can work reasonably well with work concerning people.This seriously made me think about the specialization i am going to take later in my MBA course.
